Festival Program Note

A fuzzy comic grabs the mic and rides a glittering disco-house groove like it’s open-mic night at Studio 54. “Waka waka” lands between crisp record scratches and shiny hi-hats, bad punchlines setting up surprisingly clean drops. The jokes miss on purpose—the bass never does. By the third break, even the groaners are dancing.

The people behind the music

Track dedication

Dedicated to me—because I missed the simple version of this: hear sound, grin, hit repeat. That’s it. That’s the dedication.

Fictional behind-the-scenes notes

Behind the track

Riff, a fictional Bobku puppet producer persona.

Lead puppet producer · in-universe

Riff

One of Bobku’s fictional crew personas.

Riff volunteered for this one immediately because she knew two things: disco house can survive almost anything, and Fozzie absolutely cannot be told “no.” She built the track like a glittered safety net—funky basslines, punchy breaks, and drops timed perfectly to rescue jokes mid-flop. Instead of fighting the “waka-waka,” she doubled down and matched it with tight record scratches—“wika-wika”—turning the punchline into percussion and the scratch into a rimshot with swagger. Every boo became pre-drop tension, every awkward pause a build. Behind the glass she kept one hand on the filter, ready to slam the bass back in the second a joke hit the floor. In the end, it wasn’t about whether the punchlines landed—it was about proving that over the right groove, even a dad joke can bounce.

The words

Lyrics

(Hands up) (Paws up) Who ordered the fuzzy DJ tonight? Turn that fur way up Let's go I'm your bear from the bargain bin Got dad jokes and a cheesy grin Came to drop paws on this kick and snare Least I think that's mine... is that my hair? Got a honey pot drink in a plastic cup Tried to stage dive, they held me up "Is it crowd-surfing or bear attack?" Security's confused, they just step back I said "any single bears in the crowd tonight?" Just me? Wow That's awkward Alright DJ, Save me from this flop I beg ya, too late Here comes the WAKA-WAKA DROP IT Bounce that floor Don't stop it Left paw Right paw Shake Bad jokes Good beat Earthquake WAKA-WAKA LOSE IT Laugh so hard You groove it (woah!) If the punchline kinda sucks Blame the DJ Turn it up I told the crowd "you look well-fed" They booed so loud, I DJ'd instead "Anybody here from out of town?" That's everyone, it's a campground Said "make some noise if you hate my set" They screamed so big, I'm famous, yet I asked the lights guy "how's it sound?" He turned me off, best joke in town I'm the only act with a picnic rider Just chips Dip Jar of cider Promoter said "Bro, that's not the norm" I said "I'm barely human" I'm a WAKA-WAKA DROP IT Bounce that floor Don't stop it Left paw Right paw Shake Bad jokes Good beat Earthquake WAKA-WAKA LOSE IT Laugh so hard You groove it (woah!) If the punchline kinda sucks Blame the DJ Turn it up Okay real quick If you're having a bad day Just remember Somewhere out there There's a bald bear trying to rock a wig WAKA-WAKA Cut that track up Smack that track up WAKA-WAKA If the joke falls flat We just bring the bass back
