Festival Program Note

A “perfectly safe” demo keeps getting louder until the lab becomes fireworks. The earnest inventor and his trembling partner spin near-disaster into delight.<br>*Front rails should be considered a high-voltage area.

Lead Puppet Producer

Phase – Phase took the lead on Safety Goggles (Meepwave Protocol) because he’s the only one in the room who genuinely believes you can make something feel dangerous and still be safe. Watching Bunsen and Beaker work, he saw two stories at once: a chaotic lab where anything might explode, and a quiet little meep trying very hard to trust the process. His approach was to build the track like a controlled experiment—every riser measured, every drop double-checked—so all the wild sound design sits inside a structure that never actually lets the listener fall. He spent ridiculous hours late at night comping Beaker’s meeps into chords and drum patterns until they felt less like a joke and more like a heartbeat, then wrapped the whole thing in that bridge about kindness resonating alone. For Phase, this one isn’t just a lab banger; it’s proof that you can align chaos and care on the same grid and still have everyone walk out smiling.

Track Dedication

Dedicated to the ghosts of musique concrète and the early experimenters who thought, “What if the music is everything we can record?”—lab-coat weirdos at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, and people like Pierre Schaeffer, François Bayle, Bernard Parmegiani, and so many others cutting tape, abusing radios, and turning noise into structure before there was a name for any of this.

Because of you, whole galaxies of sound grew up: tape loops into synth lines, radio hiss into ambient, machine clatter into industrial, chopped voices into house, trance, drum & bass, dubstep, J-pop hooks, reggaeton riddims, Dutch house drops, game soundtracks, film scores, and a hundred other scenes that all carry pieces of your experiments in their DNA. Every riser, every bitcrushed scream, every “what is that sound?” moment at a festival is part of your butterfly effect. This track is a thank-you note to the giants under the floorboards—the ones who proved that anything the world can throw at a microphone can become music.

[Intro]
Hello and welcome to Meepwave Protocol
Please don your safety goggles

[Verse]
In the lab of bass and light, we prototype the night
Oscillators humming, every waveform tight
I'll route the source through filters, then politely press engage
(Meep) Don't worry, beaker, perfectly safe on paper and the stage

[Pre-Chorus]
Prime the snare, align the phase
Let sidechains breathe in glitter haze
Hold your breath, two beats to go
(Meep, meep)

[Chorus]
Run the Meepwave, push the fader
Kick so clean we floor the fader
Glass two hats, burners arise
Chords go wide, we ionize
Meep, meep, meep
We test the joy, then supersize

[Hook]
Click, clack, sample that
Tape stop, grin, then snap right back

[Verse]
I've placed your meeps in samplers A through D, my friend
(Meep, meep, meep)
We'll pitch them 12 and stack in thirds
It's science you can send
Our bass is rolling 16 deep
Our clap is bright and kind
We quantize wonder to the grid
(Meep) Then free it in your mind

[Pre-Chorus]
Riser climbs like, like paper trails
Meter smiles, distortion pales
Count it down, the chest goes tight
Three, two, ignite

[Chorus]
Run the Meepwave, push the fader
Lab coat, rave, and neon vapor
Filter bold and open wide
Felt and steel in perfect stride
(Meep, meep) Meep, meep
We bend the grid and ride the tide

[Bridge]
In the hush, beyond the hum
Every meep becomes a drum
If you listen past the tone
Kindness resonates alone

[Verse]
Is the system stable?
(No)
Do we drop on cable?
(Yes)
Beaker, press the (Beaker) button

[Hook]
Meep, meep, meep, meep, meep
Meep, meep, meep, meep, meep

[Chorus]
Run the Meepwave, push the fader
Kick print stars on the oscillators
Light the room in a minor glow
All our hearts in stereo
(Meep, meep) Meep, meep
We solve the night
Joy is the show

[Outro]
Experiment concluded
Results delightfully conclusive
